Since
the day we purchased Meggie Mae, we have anxiously awaited the arrival
of this baby. Nothing could disappoint us with Sunset Acres Racer, being
the sire, and Meggie Mae, the dam.
As usual, not long before Joe arrived home, this little fellow pushed
his way into this world and into our hearts. There was absolutely no
doubt he was a special jack. It did not take him long to get his legs
under him before he was up running around his stall letting us know
that he was here to show everyone he was the one in charge.
Badlands certainly wears his gene pool as a well fitting, decorated
uniform. With his stout conformation, straight legs, alert head, and
black shiny coat, this SMALL package of energy was commanding complete
attention. Our comments were, “wow, oh my gosh, what a beauty, look
how tiny and straight, don’t see a cross, gorgeous head, spitting image
of his mother, now he is really something special, truly herd sire material,
can’t wait for Joe to get home and see this one.” When Joe finally got
home he came straight to the stall to get his first look at this boy
that had caused so much commotion in the barn. He quickly confirmed
every comment as Badlands ran straight to him wagging his tail with
excitement, jumping and snuggling, and welcoming Joe to his stall.
The very next morning Badlands and Meggie were turned out of that stall
to explore the rest of the nursery and introduce himself to the other
mom’s and babies. No doubt he was on a mission the way he let them know
he wanted to be in charge of “the troops”.
